Thank you for contacting the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) regarding the US 45 project in Fond du Lac County. The contractor as of today has 11.5 working days, which is October 17th at noon.
As you are aware of this project has two culverts on located US 45, one culvert located 0.13 miles south of County Road B and the other culvert is located at County Road F.
The contractor is working on both culverts concurrently, the culvert at County Road F (south culvert) is about a week ahead of culvert at County Road B (north culvert). The north culvert concrete met strength last Wednesday, September 27th. The same day the grading contractor started to backfill the north culvert, for those that have been on site it is a large excavation, and the grading contractor expects to be completed by COB tomorrow, Tuesday, October 3rd. The paving contractor will then be on site to start milling both culverts. Currently the north culvert is the controlling item. Unfortunately, the paving contractor would charge two mobilizations if we had the contractor come in last week only for the south culvert and come back this week for the north culvert, this is not cost effective.
The next two weeks residents should see the south culvert construction site active with contractors performing the following operations saw cut, milling and prep for paving, paving, beam guard installation, pavement markings and restoration crews.
WisDOT is working with the contractor to open the road as soon as possible. If you have any additional questions, please let me know.
Thanks,
Kimberly A. Slezak, P.E. | Project Manager |
